IT'S ALL ABOUT MENTORING
RBU YOUNG ROMA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Over the years, RBU has offered the Young Roma Student Scholarship Fund to Roma secondary students which have a desire for higher education but find their previous learning has some gaps. RBU, in coordination with pedagogical staff at varioius middle and high schools, has determined that these deficits may be overcome by turtorage and augmentation to the student's school supplies and learning technology in order for them to academically perform to the level required for future vocational success.
As a member of the minority population, a young Roma student may be offered assistance by the government with the required fees for the academic courses of their high education. However, it is the gap in the 'extras' which may make successful completion of highschool and higher education outside the reach of most young Roma students. Many do not successfully complete their vocational highschools in a manner which would assure them sustainable future employment.
However, with the addition to their high school education of any or all of those 'extras' – school clothing, a laptop or ipad, school supplies, a small living stipend, and in some cases dormatory accomodation – RBU has assisted several Roma young people to complete High School successfully and in some cases to continue on to complete their vocational training or university diploma.
